Sathya was the best student in His class of thirty and was made the monitor. As a monitor, He was authorised to punish His classmates on instructions from the class teacher. Sathya narrated in later years an interesting incident. He was ordered by His teacher to slap each of the thirty students for some mistake they had committed and since He did not slap them hard enough, the teacher punished Sathya with nearly thirty slaps. Sathya bore the punishment with no complaint.
